A Constant Companion: Keeping the Spirit with You

Why does the adversary try so hard to bring us down every day? How do we maintain spirituality when we live in such a sin-stained world? In this moving talk on CD, popular speaker and author Jack R. Christianson uses powerful stories, quotes, and insights from the scriptures to help us stay in tune with the Spirit. Brother Christianson teaches that having the Spirit with us requires constant, daily effort in order to be effective. Quoting Brigham Young, Brother Christianson says, “The men and women who desire to have seats in the Celestial Kingdom will find that they must battle with the enemy of all righteousness every day.” Brother Christianson outlines the specific weapons we can use and the daily armor we must put on in order to win this constant battle and qualify for the sweet companionship of the Spirit.

Doubt Not, Fear Not

“I am almost overwhelmed when people come to me saying, ‘I’m not sure I have a testimony anymore’ or ‘I read something about the Church that I didn’t know before,’ and they start to waiver.” Brother Christianson always asks them why they are searching for light in the dark. He wonders why they don’t spend as much time reading the scriptures as they do reading materials designed to tear down the Church. He invites each of us to “give the Lord equal time. Give Him His due share of you thoughts, you time, your talent, and your attention.” Using powerful stories, enlightening scriptures, and personal experiences, Brother Christianson teaches us how we can deal with doubts and stay loyal and true in the face of opposition. “As we become more like the Savior, our testimonies will increase to the point that no matter what the conditions of the world are, we will not let go of the iron rod and give in to the mists of darkness and fall into forbidden paths and be lost.” Doubt Not, Fear Not is a powerful resource for staying strong in these latter days.

Healing the Wounded Soul

If you’ve ever tried to help a troubled friend, a wayward youth, or a struggling family member, you know how frustrating it is to see them self-destruct. In this inspirational talk, Brother Jack R. Christianson offers valuable insights and provides powerful hope for those working misguided souls.

“Most people misbehave not because they are bad,” says Brother Christianson, “but because they are wounded in some way. We need to look beyond the behavior to understand how they are hurting or why they are insecure. We’ve got to be more patient as we deal with wounded hearts.” He suggests that we follow Jacob’s teachings and try “the pleasing word of God, yea, the word which healeth the wounded soul” (Jacob 2:8).

Using touching stories and insightful quotes and scriptures, Brother Chrisitanson teaches us how we can help others in the healing process. “Remember, we’re not going to be able to change people, but the Spirit can and we can somehow love them with our own changed hearts.”

Honoring a Mother’s Love

“Many influences in today’s world try to minimize or marginalize the role of women and especially mothers in building society,” says Brother Jack Christianson. “But as the Apostle Matthew Cowley said, ‘You sisters belong to the great sorority of Saviorhood. you are born with an inherent right, an inherent authority to be the saviors of human souls.’ You women have that innate ability to love—to look beyond the rough edges and to care about people. As a result, you lift them and you build them and you don’t even know it. Nothing can take the place of a righteous woman in guiding the steps of God’s children here on earth.”

In this inspiring talk on CD, Brother Christianson shares enlightening stories, insightful quotes, and pointed reminders to honor the important role of women in our lives. He says, “I cannot express to you how my life has been altered by good women.” Brother Christianson goes on to say that his life was forever changed on the day he realized his mother’s love for him was unconditional. Paraphrasing a quote from 1 John 4:19, he says, “I love her, because she first loved me.” Brother Christianson’s message will uplift, encourage, and provide hope for women everywhere.

I have listened to many of Brother Christianson’s talks on tape and one of my favorites is “You Were Born to be a King” I bought it from Deseret Book several years ago and lost my copy of it. I have looked everywhere for another copy, but cannot find it. I would love to have another copy if possible. How and Where can I get another copy? I did buy “The Best of Jack R. Christianson and I love it too and it does have bits of the talk “You Were Born to be a King” on the CD, but is missing some of the amazing stories from that talk. If anyone knows where you can still purchase a copy of it I would absolutely be so thankful to you.

    • I’ve been helping President Christianson keep up his blog as he keeps busy with missionary work. “You Were Born to Be a King” is not currently in print. I’ve looked for it everywhere and couldn’t find any available copies. I’ll keep looking, but I don’t think we’ll have any luck unless Deseret Book decides to produce it again.

I would to find a copy of “Music, Apples or Onions”. Any suggestions?

    • Hi Ann,

I’m Camille Jones, a former missionary serving in President Christianson’s mission. I’ve been helping him with his blog during his busy service as a mission president. Unfortunately, the book you’d like is currently out of print. In a quick search I found only 3 copies for sale at Amazon, but they’re listed as collector’s editions and are very expensive. There is part of the talk in the CD collection called “The Best of Jack Christianson.” I’ll let him know that there is a demand for the book and the current prices they are listed as. I hope it will be available again in the future for all of us. With love,

      Sister Jones

I heard a talk by Brother Christianson called, To Save a City? Does anyone know where I can purchase a copy?

    • Cynthia,

My name is Camille Jones, formally one of President Christianson’s missionaries. He’s asked that I help keep this blog as a mission president’s schedule is very busy. That book is currently out of print, but there are 2 copies available on Amazon, one listed at about $7 and the other (collectible) at $30. Hope this helps.
